It is now nearly two years since I became editor of Family Practice. In that time there have been many changes to the journal, with the introduction of electronic submissions, e-letters, online-first publication of PDFs and a new journal website. Family Practice is unique as the only international primary care research journal, and we have taken steps to consolidate the journal in that role. The editorial board has recently expanded to include more members from North America and Southern Europe, as well as adding more capacity in both qualitative research and epidemiological methods.
